Dairy Free Taco Tuesday? HOW?
A few short years ago I had a love affair with cheese. I loved cheese but it didn’t love me back. When you’re a cheese lover going vegan, one of the things you ask is “what about that cheesy goodness”. Are visions of nachos, pizza, homemade macaroni and cheese, and grilled cheese running through your mind? Rest assured there are more options available than you think.
There are substitutions out there for EVERY dairy food you can imagine.
Cheese (In every flavor)
You name it you can find it!
There are a few things to keep in mind though. The substitutions won’t taste exactly like the animal derived versions but are still quite good. You also want to pay attention to the nutrition facts. Just because it’s vegan doesn’t mean it’s healthy. Lastly cheese substitutes can be costly so buying them can put a big dint in your grocery budget.
Back to the fiesta…
Right now my favorite cheese substitute is Follow Your Heart Vegan Gourmet Shreds. That’s what I used to make my quesadilla.
For my nachos, well, I’ve learned to love them without cheese! The avocado is my new favorite creamy topping. They are a delicious substitution filled healthy fats and vitamins. You’ll also have extra grocery shopping money because avocados are much cheaper than vegan cheese substitutes.
